May the existence of and visiting this site attempt to provide you with: HOPE, COURAGE and HEALING for yourself and people you know as well as, COMMEMORATION for your loved ones and people who have passed over R.I.P. due to family, gender-based and private violence.
Survivors, friends, families, significant others, carers, members of groups & communities as well as professionals who honour those they have and do care about are welcome here to, commemorate, contemplate and memorialise the lives who have passed over R.I.P.
This site exists in the optimism that the internet will unite and recognise individuals, families, groups and communities of their trauma and suffering towards healing and for this space to be a safe place.
In recognition, the purpose and need for an internet (and in future a physical -now there is see “about”) shrine and memorial is for people who have had or are enduring gender-based violence; family violence and private violence.
Family, gender-based and private violence often occurs behind closed doors. There is a need to grieve the abuse and in many cases the loss of life in both a private and public way.
When we acknowledge the existence of such an issue as family, gender-based and private violence, which in turn can generate quiet contemplation, reflection and questioning. Open discussion can break the silence and isolation that people enduring violence, face.
We all need to work together to address this problem & issue. The existence of this shrine and memorial website demonstrates that we need to communicate to each other that things need to change.
